One of my majors is Studio Art, so I do a lot of drawing, painting, and (recently) a little sculpting. I especially enjoy portraiture.

Finished Charcoal Drawings

All of the pictures below are from an assignment in which black and white photographs were taken of each member of our class and used to practice dramatic contrasting in our work. Many people feel that working from photographs is "cheating," but it is excellent for practicing, and I feel that if you can bring out the subject's personality in the picture anyway, you have made a successful portrait. I took these pictures with a digital camera, as they're all quite large (22 1/4 by 30 inches each), which means a some of the subtle shading doesn't show up
